Surrounded by smoke,
I struggle for some clarity.
In a world full of greed,
I try to make space for charity.
I’m trying to spread love all around,
But, within me, I can’t preserve it.
I think the pressure will get to me,
A little rest I need. I think I deserve it.
There’s a tsunami of questions,
Those that make me strive for change.
With each step I come closer,
Yet the goal seems out of range.
I take blame for what goes wrong,
But credit for the good? I don’t reserve it.
I need to thank myself for having tried,
A little celebration I need. I think I deserve it.
Crushed under the mountain of my own expectations,
I still keep on going.
There are these waves that try to break me,
But I still keep on rowing.
I see society burning in the evils,
I take it on me to serve it.
But I need some shade from the sun,
I need a little break sometimes. I think I deserve it.
I try, I dream, I don’t give up.
In exchange I ask for some peace of mind,
It’s all I crave. Oh! I think I deserve it.
