A heartfelt appeal to all Indians.
After a memorable Europe tour, I have returned to my homeland, to where I belong, to the most happening city in the world.
I return with a lot of learnings, experiences and dreams, but more importantly, I return with a heavy heart.
I met scores of Indians abroad. Many of Indian origin too, and I was proud of my countrymen serving the world and contributing to its growth. But what ashamed me was the fact that they are as ungrateful to their country as one can be. They feel they’ve eloped and need no more of the ‘stupid Indian culture’ or even Indians. There is a sense of arrogance and superiority that has creeped in. Of course, they love to add the ‘India Ka kuch nahi ho sakta’ dialogue.
I urge each and every Indian who travels abroad to settle, to study, to work or just on a vacation or even those who live in the country as termites- WE ARE AMBASSADORS OF OUR NATION. We are the nation. People see India through our eyes and our opinions matter. We have come a long way as a nation despite the atrocities and calamities we have faced. We are a young and aspiring country and our people make a difference across the globe.
Yes there are many many problems we need to work on, but the key word here is ‘WE’ and not ‘PROBLEMS’. More importantly, the fact that you are able to complain about all this is because you have extra-ordinary freedom in your motherland, unlike any other nation. Respect and value that freedom, because many have sacrificed their lives to give you what you take for granted.
Of course, there are people who take pride in being an Indian and speak about its bright future than about its gloomy past, but to the others, I can only say-
Agar aap jaiso ka kuch ho sakta hain, toh India ka bohot kuch ho sakta hain. Aap saath ho ya na ho, main mere desh ke saath hu.
